The Self Tract is a nice 238 acre (+-) hunting property located on Boromville Road only a few miles NW of Hurtsboro, AL. The property is on the Macon/Russell County line and is within 35 minutes of the Auburn/Opelika area and 45 minutes of Columbus, GA. This area has always been a popular destination for hunters from all over the state and the southeast. With an abundant supply of all types of wildlife, the Hurtsboro zip code and the Self Tract in particular should be a good hunting tract for the new owner.
Comprised mainly of scattered mature pine and a natural regeneration understory, the Self Tract could be cleaned up into a small quail hunting farm. The gently rolling topography and habitat is ideal for that and with some work I think could be transformed into a show place. If you aren’t a quail hunter and like to deer hunt, then this tract is pretty much ready to go. There are five nice size food plots on the tract that just need to be broken up and planted! Two hardwood drains run through the property, both having some mast bearing oaks that will be good food for the wildlife. These drains are great pinch points and funnels that I am sure the deer will travel on a regular basis. A great road system is already in place and most of the property can be driven through in a pickup truck. Other wildlife in the area and on this tract would be wild turkey, doves and wild hogs. There are several quail plantations nearby as well so hearing a bob white early in the morning would not be uncommon.
